"Good looking digital photo frame" 2010-10-27
By T. Robinson
I purchased this as a gift for family and was pleased to see that looked very good. The only thing I don't much like about any of the digital picture frames is that they tend to be a bit difficult to set up. Basically, they all work like digital clock radios (like you use for setting the time) which is to say, not really that easy.

is quite cheap and practical, easy to use sd card comes incorporate these, the picture quality is not very good and the device is too straight and stop for a picture frame.

"Picture frame good with one caveat" 2010-09-29
By macadvantage
I've read several reviews for this digital frame (and similar ones from SmartParts like the SP8XE) where the unit turns off frequently - or even doesn't turn on. Mine did the same thing and frustrated me until I realized that the light sensor setting (that turns it off in low light) was set to ON by default. I had to turn the unit on in a very brightly lit room. I am not sure where the sensor is, but it seemed to work better when I had the back of the unit towards the light. Then I was finally able to get in to the settings menu and turn the light sensor setting to off.

Once I fixed that issue, I was very pleased with the unit.

 "Picture Close to Perfect" 2010-09-12
By Anna Hope (PA United States)
A very simple to use digital picture frame that looks quite attractive sitting on a shelf. I turn mine off at night or when I don't want to be distracted. It has a nice feature that you can activate that randomly shifts how each picture appears (i.e. fade in/out, slide in/out from left or right, pixelates on/off ect.) which is an entertaining way to see your photos slide show. It has an easy to understand feature set and a descent On Screen Display.

The aspect ratio of the screen seems off for most cameras, you end up with black bars down the sides. It's still functioning fine for me after several weeks of use.

"The Reliable Smartparts 7" Digital Picture Frame Looks Great On Any Office Desk" 2010-07-13
By Reuben Gathright (United States)
If you are shopping for a low cost digital photo frame, I recommend the Smartparts 7" Digital Picture Frame. The frame itself is cleanly built and made of thick plastic to protect it from any falls. In fact, due to the relatively low cost and ease of use, you could give this to a child as a way of sharing photos of their recent family vacation.

Looking for more detail? Read On!

The SmartParts 7" Digital Photo Frame takes about 30 seconds to completely boot up. Once it is started, the built-in demo mode is set as the default. You can quickly view photos on your SD memory card by removing and reinserting it into the side card slot. Within just 5 seconds, your photos will begin cycling through the slideshow program.

Digital Picture Display Quality

First, you must remember that the maximum resolution for this photo frame is 480x234 pixels. For comparison, your standard Windows Vista screen is at least 800x600 pixels in size. As a result, you will not get to see the full depth of your digital photos on this product. The great news is that for casual viewing, from a distance of 12' away, the photos look great. The TFT LCD display does a very good job of rendering the deep contrast and brightness of digital photographs. I enjoy using my Nintendo DSi XL to take photos around the house and then placing the SD card inside this photo frame to view the photos. The pictures taken with the Nintendo DSi look surprisingly good on this 7" LCD screen.

Which Memory Cards Are Supported With The SmartParts 7" Photo Frame?

You can insert a memory card from a Nintendo DSi or digital camera with supported memory card into this product without the need for time consuming initial setup. The software inside the photo frame will detect all available photos in any folders and begin displaying them. The following memory cards were tested and found to work with the SmartPart 7" Digital Photo frame: SanDisk 2Gb SD, Lexar 4Gb microSDHC Class2, Kodak 4Gb SDHC memory card and the Kingston 16Gb microSDHC SDC2 memory card. I only had SD, SDHC and microSDHC memory cards at the time this product was tested.

The Instruction Manual

The instruction manual for the SmartParts 7" Digital Photo frame is 12 pages long. Since it is only in English, the manufacturer had room to print the text in an easily legible format. Multiple topics are covered, including copying files, troubleshooting and the 90 day product warranty.

Power Options For The SmartParts 7" Digital Picture Frame

The Smart Parts 7" Digital Picture Frame consumes at most 7 watts of power while in slideshow mode. The low wattage, TFT, full-color, LCD display is an ecofriendly way of showing off your photos for coworkers or just family. The power supply for this product is approximately 2" x 1.5" in size and has a very long, 72" cord to give you a good measure of flexibility for placement of the digital frame on the wall or bookshelf in your home. The Model Number for the power supply is HNA120050U and is rated for 12VDC at 0.5 amp output.

Summary

I was very impressed with the no hassle operation of the Smart Parts 7" Digital Photo Frame and think you will be to.

"Don't waste you time on this one" 2010-09-05
By Barbara Limer (Binghamton NY)
I bought the device for my daughter last Christmas (12/2009). I returned the first device when it failed and they replaced it. The second device has now failed and their customer service has gone radio silent on me. I would rather (and probably will) get a different device for my daughter but I will also try one more time to get a reliable device from Latte.

"Amen to the others who give this a poor rating" 2010-08-23

Like several of the other reviewers, I bought this to play flac files, it failed after a couple of months and I got no where with the company service/technical contacts. I asked Amazon for help contacting the company but they said they could not help. Amazon should quit selling this company's products. THEY ARE A RIPOFF!!!

"Buy It, Use It, It Fails, No Support, Throw It Away" 2010-07-31
By ooby (sf bay area, ca)
That pretty much sums it up. I bought this player for the screen size, FLAC playback and memory size. It worked somewhat fine for about two months (had some glitches with video playback and battery life was only about half as advertised). Suddenly, the unit wouldn't power up at all. I contacted their customer support e-mail three weeks ago and followed up with three more e-mails. No response. I Can't find a phone number anywhere to call either in the literature included, or on their website. It looks slick, but don't waste your money. Just my guess, but I think this company is a reseller that doesn't have the know how to fix the products they sell.

"Terrible player & Terrible customer support and warranty" 2010-07-30
By Coffee
DON'T BUY THIS PLAYER. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I got it last Nov and immediately notice it resets periodically when charging.

It sometimes skips to the next song when I press the volume botton.

Sound quality is so so. Battery life was decent at the beginning and now is terrible.

The earphone jack is broken so I have to press the earphone to one side to hear from both sides.

I emailed customer service twice for warranty and got no response.

 "Ureliable" 2010-07-02
By Rock Fan (NYC)
I bought it little over a moth ago and I had it replaced twice since.

The first one just didn't work. As I turned it on it kept frantically switching between the folders.

I called the tech support and reformatted it as instructed. It still didn't work so I went to J&R and got new one.

The new one worked fine for a while but the menu button became somewhat unresponsive after a week. It still worked but I had to press on it really hard. Also it had a bug where every now and then the machine would stop and make loud static noise. Not to mention that battery life advertised at 9 HR for music is barely 4.5-5 HR tops. When the SDS extension memory stick catapulted out of it's slot for no apparent reason (after 3 weeks of use) it was time for me to get yet another one. Luckily the folks at J&R were nice enough to give me another unit even though it passed their 14 day return/exchange policy. I've had this one for a week. This unit too goes into that static noise once for every album I listen and battery life still sucks (4.5-5 HR). Another thing that bothers me is that the folders are not listed in alphabetical order (artists and albums are but the folders are not). I wonder how long is this one going to last before it breaks.

The reason I bought this unit and and I'm trying to stick with it is because it plays FLAC files (as well as MP3, OGG, WAV etc.). I have huge FLAC collection and it makes no sense converting it to WAV and burning it to cdrs.

I have way to many discs as it is. On the pros side besides the ability to play FLAC files the unit also has manual equalizers (a huge plus in my book). There are not to many units with these options. It is a shame that they could not make it more reliable and with longer battery life (at least 12-15 HR). I cannot comment on it's video, audio books and FM capabilities as I don't use those features. I will also mention that the sound quality is quite nice with Panasonic RP-HJE300 ear buds and when plugged to my stereo system using audio cables. What else? They could have made it smaller too (for people like me who don't use it to watch videos) but that's just a personal note.

Closing statement:

I wish that somebody out there would make a unit that plays FLAC files (as well as other formats mentioned above) with manual equalizers, longer battery life and small in size.

"About to take legal action against the manufactuer!!!" 2010-10-29
By Bryan Phillips
I had the product for a few months. Worked pretty good, although it lacked a bit as far as the touch screen goes. It stopped working completely so I called the manufacturer and I guess by pure luck someone answered the phone (must have been a traniee) and gave me instructions to send it back with a return code. I was also told to ship it insured. I did so and also requested a delivery confirmation from the post office. I got the confirmation that they received my player which was boxed absolutley like it was brand new. Authorization code was placed outside the package as well as inside. It has now been almost 4 months and countless phone calls and emails, yet no one seems to be able to answer the phone or return my email. I can't believe they stole my MP3 player. Don't purchase from this company. They are flat out CROOKS!

This is a great FM Transmitter. I tried it 100 feet from from my car. There was no fading out. It has a shuffler for your mp 3's. It work pretty good. The video is great. You can't separate the music. There is no place for folders on this. Can't use while it is charging. Battery last about 6 hrs. on a charge up. Take about 2 hrs to charge when battery is drained. It beats the type you plug in to your car lighter . Best little gadget I have found for transmitting.

"MP4 videos freeze up and power button broken" 2010-10-14
By A. Schmidt (Madison, WI)
I like to watch music videos while I am at the gym. My converted youtube music videos play great on my husbands player but player them on this unit is hit or miss. Randomly I will be able to play 2 to 6 videos before the video display slows down but the audio doesn't and then the machine would freeze up completely. I would have to turn it on and off again. After a few weeks of that -the power button no longer works. the only way to turn he unit on is to plug it into the charger. the company wants me to spend the money to ship it back to them, and they want to keep it for a minimum of two weeks. I didn't take them up on it. Purchase at your own risk.

"Worst MP3 player of all time" 2010-09-24
By Counter-Strike
I've had my share of MP3 players through out the years, and I stumbled across this one. At my new workplace, I can't use my iPhone to listen to music and needed a stand-alone MP3 player. It also needed an FM transmitter and since this one had one built-in, it looked like a great deal. On top of that it played FLAC files; that was just more icing on the cake.

Oh how I was deceived...

I don't even know where to start so I think it'd be easier if I just made a list, here goes:

1. Even though I charged it per the instructions, for 8 hours, untouched, I got only 3 to 4 hours of playing time, and that was with sparse usage. I thought charging it again untouched for 8 hours might help, same results.

2. The touch screen is so random, when I first opened the package and calibrated it, everything was fine. I try again, and it wouldn't recognize half of the touches, the tests timed-out 3 times for me! I also found myself having to even use my fingernail just to bring up the settings display and I do not have fat fingers.

3. The FM transmitter did not work, AT ALL.

4. Even though it plays lossless audio, it all sounds the same as a regular 160kbps MP3. I felt very cheated with the sound quality.

5. Headphones that come stock with this are terrible. The rubber on the ends fall off with very little pressure; extremely cheap.

As per my last statement, I guess that not only did I feel cheated with the sound quality, I just felt cheated overall with the assumption that this was a good MP3 player. The only good thing that came out of this is Amazon's awesome return policy.

Oh, and the Latte Cafe 32gb model...pretty much the exact same thoughts. I should just copy and paste this review on that MP3 player as well.

"very good ipod touch knockoff" 2010-09-21
By vsmash
I bought this item as a cheaper alternative to the ipod touch, and have had no regrets not splurging!!!! My boyfriend has the ipod touch and I prefer my espresso. Ease of drag and dropping audio and video files was amazing, uses names in media library, windows media player or itunes. Hard metal body is super great and seems scratch resistant so far. Touch screen not too too sensitive, my nails work well though. Only noticeable con to the device is the one second lag when going from horizontal to vertical screen, though there is no change in the lag time when playing music or video. Charged pretty fast, easy to use without reading instructions and no HORRID CONVERSION SOFTWARE like battling with the sansa I had before. Music too seconds to transfer and was instantly recognized and synced by windows media player.

To those who hate itunes and the ipod this is a welcome alternative. Very happy not to give 200-300 for 16gig touch screen.

Body of audio device is sleek and is holding up better uncased than my boyfriends glove protected ipod. So easy to change music, acts like my external hard drive more than a media player.

EXCELLENT BUY, way better than the ipod, very bright screen that has not yet scratched after heavy loose.
